The short version
We do not sell your data. We do not run advertising networks. We set no analytics cookie at all unless you agree to it, and if you are in the EU, UK or Switzerland nothing loads until you say yes. If you join the mailing list, we hold your email address and nothing else, and every message has a one-click unsubscribe that works immediately.

We do not ask for your name, address or phone number to read the site, and we never receive card details — there are none, because payment is in stablecoin and settles directly on-chain.
Cookies
Strictly necessary
One cookie, dohyo_consent, remembers the choice you made about analytics so we do not ask again every visit. It lasts about six months and holds nothing but that decision.
Analytics — your choice
Google Analytics 4, and only if you allow it. IP anonymisation is on, Google Signals and ad personalisation are off, so the data is not used to build an advertising profile of you.
Which choice you are offered depends on where you are, resolved from your connection at our edge:
- EU, EEA, UK, Switzerland — nothing loads until you accept.
- United States — loads by default, with a "Do Not Sell or Share" control.
- Elsewhere — loads by default, with a decline control.
- Country unknown — treated as the strictest case: nothing loads.

Affiliate links
Some links to ticket sellers are affiliate links, marked as such on the page that carries them. If you book through one we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you — the price is the same either way. The link to the Japan Sumo Association's own box office is not an affiliate link and earns us nothing.
Following one of these links hands you over to that company, who will set their own cookies under their own policy. We receive only aggregate reporting: how many clicks and bookings came from which page. We are not told who you are or what else you looked at.
Signup is double opt-in: entering your address does nothing until you click the link we email you. That prevents anyone signing you up without your knowledge.
We record the date and the IP address the request came from, purely as evidence of consent — it is what lets us show, if asked, that you did agree. Emails are delivered by a third-party sending provider on our behalf.
Every message carries a one-click unsubscribe. It takes effect immediately, needs no login, and we do not email to ask you to reconsider. We keep a record that you unsubscribed, so that a later import cannot accidentally add you back.
Where your data goes
The site runs on Cloudflare, so requests are handled at whichever edge location is nearest you. Subscriber records and orders are stored in Cloudflare's key-value store. Analytics data, if you consent, goes to Google. Email delivery goes through our sending provider. Payments settle on public blockchains — a transaction that confirms an order is, by design, permanently public, though it carries no personal information beyond the wallet addresses involved.
This means data may be processed outside your country, including in the United States.
Your rights
If you are in the UK or EU, the GDPR gives you the right to see what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, take it elsewhere, or object to how it is used. If you are in California, the CCPA gives you comparable rights, including to know and to delete.
In practice, for almost everyone, the only thing we hold is an email address, and unsubscribing removes it from all use. For anything more, write to hello@dohyosumo.com and we will respond within 30 days. You can also complain to your national data protection authority — in the UK, the ICO.
Our lawful basis is your consent for analytics and email, and legitimate interest for keeping the site running and secure.
Children
This site is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 16. If you believe we have, tell us and we will delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top and, where the change affects how we use data you have already given us, say so in an email before it takes effect.
